BHG Participates with PEL in Orthotic/Prosthetic Association Show

Joining the client at this key industry trade event helped The Bloodhound Group deepen its relationship with PEL and enhance understanding of the company’s marketing and operational environment.

We’ve found that one of the very best ways to stay ahead of the curve on emerging trends and product innovations in a client’s business is to take part in a leading industry trade show.

In September, BHG Social Media Manager Ivey Spear joined the PEL sales team at the 2024 AOPA (American Orthotic & Prosthetic Association) National Assembly in Charlotte, NC. The event is the largest and longest-running gathering for professionals in the U.S. orthotic, prosthetic and pedorthic fields, providing attendees the opportunity to learn, network and shape the future of their profession. As one of the industry’s leading wholesalers of equipment and supplies, PEL, LLC, had a strong presence at the show.

“Attending the Assembly gave me the chance to gain a better understanding of the O&P industry and to get to know the PEL team in-person after working with them for quite a while on Zoom,” says Ivey, who handles social media for PEL. “I visited many booths, talked with manufacturers and witnessed demonstrations of emerging technologies in the design of prosthetic legs, feet and knees.

“I was an active participant in one demonstration of a device for patients with mobility loss of their arms. The device was attached to my forearm, and the operators were then able to control movements of my arm and hand from their computer.”

Another highlight was interacting with amputees attending the show as ambassadors for various manufacturers. “I really enjoyed speaking with them about how these products have positively impacted their lives,” she says. “I also gained a lot of insight into the needs of the PEL team and how The Bloodhound Group can support them with implementation of their marketing strategy. My first-hand, insider experience at the show will serve as a rich source of content for our ongoing social media work with PEL.”
