Website helps Boost Twin Troller boat sales

Freedom Electric Marine is not a company that rests on its laurels. In 2020 the Angier, N.C.-based enterprise worked with The Bloodhound Group to reposition its innovative Twin Troller fishing boat for reenergized awareness and interest, producing record sales. But Phase II plans were already in the works, to further deepen the brand’s relationship with small water anglers.

The Twin Troller website needed an overhaul, and the question on the table was whether to modify the existing site or take the plunge and rebuild it on a new e-commerce platform. Updating of brand and features videos was already under way with the help of Triad Studios in Chapel Hill, N.C., but could all the work required be completed before the start of fishing season March 1st? The collective team decided to go for an all-new site.

What followed was a Mission Impossible-worthy initiative, led by Freedom Electric Marine’s Director of Marketing, Lindsay Gault, and supported by BHG. The site was up and running in only five weeks, start to launch, plus an additional week for testing.

“We initially estimated about two months to complete the design, integration and migration to a completely new platform. But we needed the site to be fully functional before our annual spring sale in March,” says Lindsay. “So we made it happen in about two thirds the time. It required an all-hands-on-deck effort by an amazing team. Everyone spent countless hours to produce one heck of a site!”

The results speak for themselves. According to Google Analytics, the site bounce rate, which hovered in the 60% range last year, is now at an amazing 3.85%. Page views have more than doubled from 1.8 to 5+, and time on the site is up approximately 40%. And most importantly, post-launch sales for the month of March, in concert with the spring sales promotion, are three times the record-breaking volume of March 2020. YTD sales versus prior year are up 150%.
